On each EMI trip we take the final day of our trip for rest and relaxation, which often involves something touristy. At our project site in Rustenburg we were a short 40 minute drive from Pilanesburg National Park, which features elephants, hyenas, impala, water buck, baboons, leopards, hippos, wildebeest, and lions, to name only a few. So duh, we went there for R & R day. We were able to take two hosted game drives, one at sunset and the other at sunrise, plus our drive across the park to reach the camp where we spent the night. Below are some of the critters God graced our planet with and paraded out for us to see.
When we came back from our first drive, our teammate Neil had prepared a braai for us. That's a traditional and popular South African meal fresh off the grill. Neil is a pretty solid electrician, but if he ever found he needed or wanted to quit that gig, I believe he could make a living as a chef. It was so good I did not even take any photos, I just chowed down.
We are missionaries with Engineering Ministries International, based in Colorado Springs, and traveling around the globe to serve.
