In holding myself to some accountability on practicing, I managed to not only shoot some photos but to learn some new editing techniques as well. On the night I shot most of these we had about eleven mule deer hanging around.
The sun sets right over the mountains behind our house and during golden hour I often find myself staring out the back windows at the play of light on all the dead grasses up the hill. It's pretty magical. Shooting directly into the sun can present some challenges, but it also gives some really killer effects if you aim right. I usually squat and move around a lot to get the angle just right. This hill is a little steep so I expect to one day find myself rolling backwards down it, over a lot of cacti, sticking the landing on the nice, soft granite gravel that makes up our backyard.
Hopefully, someone will capture that on video.
