KENYA - Into Abba's Arms & Touched By Love Ministries: In June of 2015 Kevin and Jenni traveled together to Kenya but served on separate teams, both designing site plans for children's homes. Into Abba's Arms currently serves 45 children and seeks to expand to serve up to 75. Touched By Love has only the land as yet, but now with designs from our teams, they are raising funds to build group homes, a chapel, and dining hall to serve about 55 children in Kisumu. We also got to see some cool African critters.
UGANDA - African Bible University, Lubowa: Our team was doing a site assessment in preparation for master planning for future facility needs. Additionally, Joel and Jenni were able to spend a full day photographing another eMi team that was working on a children's home project nearby (Sozo Children).
HONDURAS - Escuela el Sembrador: In September 2012 we served on our first eMi project team. The week was spent designing a master plan for growth at a school that gives underprivileged students a high school diploma and agribusiness skills. Most receive Christ and go on to earn a college degree.
TANZANIA - Kiuma: Founded by Deichmann Industries and directed by Dr. Matamora, a native Tanzanian, Kiuma serves roughly 1500 students from the surrounding area. About 80% are Muslim, but their parents send them to this evangelical Christian school because no other educational opportunities exist.
JAMAICA - IsleGo Missions: Not an eMi project, but the foreign missions experience that was the catalyst for our "life reboot." In 2011 and 2012 we traveled with a team to serve the Steertown and Seville Heights communities just east of Ocho Rios.
SOUTH AFRICA -
Beulah Centre for Destiny: This 2017 project trip was the first time Jenni experienced what people mean when they say "Africa gets into your blood and under your skin." Our team designed a campus to serve as a halfway house and vocational training school for parolees coming out of the juvenile prison system. You can see the video of our week here.
Senegal, Beer Sheba Project - For EMI West Africa's first project, we served Beer Sheba Project, a farming site that gives jobs and agricultural skill training, plus discipleship to young people in Mbour. Desertification is one of the biggest challenges the region faces and Beer Sheba has been able to combat this with careful planning and land management.
